These are a few of my favorite things . .

At times I tell myself not to get too excited about getting pregnant.  I tell myself I should wait until at least a month (or 2) into it until I start thinking and planning all of the fun things I get to plan and think about when I am “expecting.”  Well, at times I also ignore my own advice and get SUPER excited about ALL of these little things anyway:

-Baby Names  - Although we have had quite a while to figure those out, so I think we have that down.

- How I am going to tell DH the news.  This one excites me.  We have been trying so hard, for so long to make this happen, and if this ACTUALLY happens this time, I don’t think he will even believe me. Ha  I think he will be so excited that the shots he has had to administer to me will be coming closer to an end.  He is not a fan of doing it, but has been a MAJOR trooper!  And let me tell you . . I am not a fan of receiving the 4” needle, so I am definitely not the happiest for a few minutes after it happens (sorry babe xo).

 - How I am going to tell my family the news – I know who I am telling first, and who I will probably tell together at one time.  But there are so many ideas running through my head as to how I will tell them and when  . . It excites me so much!  I know many of them have been pulling for DH and me, and have been waiting alongside us during this process.

 - How I am going to tell some of my friends.  (This includes some family as well)  I know I will just be so excited to share this amazing news and see their reactions!

- How I will decorate the nursery…  OMG have I thought about this over and over.  I love interior design/decoration.  I love organizing.  I love to be creative.  With those 3 things combined, it overwhelms me with excitement to think that THIS MAY BE THE TIME I get to plan this all out and have it all become a reality!

- Will we end up getting pregnant with twins?!   If you remember, we did implant 2 embryos this time!  If I am being honest, this causes excitement with a small side of nervousness. Lol

Anyways, this is a time of excitement, along with many other emotions.  But I am choosing to stick with excitement.  At least for today.

Now we wait . .

So . . Tuesday morning DH and I headed to the RE's office for implantation.  Basically they tell you to show up with a full bladder in order for them to see on the ultra sound exactly where to place the embryos in your uterus.  As you can imagine, this is not a comfortable state to be in while in this “position.”  They also give you a valium to relax everything which helps, kinda.  Anyways, while we were there we verified with my doctor that we would be implanting TWO embryos during this round.  While discussing this we discovered we would actually have 2 more embryos left, rather than only 1 (which was what we originally thought).  So if for some reason (hopefully NOT) that this cycle does not work . . we do have 2 more embryos to use for another FET (frozen embryo cycle).  This is HUGE news!  I won’t have to go through a 3 month process with a surgery in the middle for a fresh IVF cycle, I would have another 3 and a half week FET cycle with NO surgery.

Soooo, I WAS IMPLANTED TUESDAY!  Which means now we WAIT!  These 2.5-3 weeks are going to feel like years.  How do I know this?  Well, I have already had to wait once, and it was torture.  Also, it has only been 3 days, and I am already DONE with this whole “waiting” thing.  I tell friends and family, that I speak to often, that it is a month or so until we find out rather than 2.5 weeks.  First of all, not many people ask, but if they do it will give us time to either grasp good news, or get over some of the original raw grief if there is another unsuccessful cycle.

While I was lying down before the procedure I had every emotion running through my mind.  I was excited, nervous, happy, worried and anxious, all at once.  I was so excited that this was happening, and we could potentially find out we are pregnant within the next few weeks.  This is such a crazy thing for us to imagine.  On the other hand, I would tell myself not to get too excited, and that I should prepare for the situation of it possibly not working out.  Then, two seconds, later I am telling myself not to be pessimistic about it and to think the best.  It really is very emotionally draining, and I am sure this will be going on in my head for the next 2.5 weeks or so.  I am trying to stay as positive as I can and to focus on other things, so I don’t obsess over this… It’s hardly working, but I am trying…

2nd is the Best . .

So there are a few reasons why I am super excited for this round to get to the point of implantation, and why I truly believe that this will be the cycle that is successful!  First of all, my body already got practice once and although it did not work - - now it’s ready to be a rock star and succeed!
Second of all, this is a frozen cycle which does not involve as many drugs, and my body does not have to go through the retrieval surgery in the middle of the cycle!  All of the drugs I have to take for a fresh cycle tend to make it more difficult for the progress of my lining in my uterus to be lined up with the progress of the embryo they had implanted.  There is no retrieval surgery during an FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) which will leave my body well rested and in more of a natural state during the cycle!
I have also been taking some amazing vitamins on top of my prenatal vitamins and my women’s “One-A-Day” vitamins that are recommended for fertility.  And my last reason may not have any medical credibility or facts behind it, and may be “slightly” superstitious, but I will take it!  My lucky number has always been the number 2 and that may sound silly, but it seems that the number 2 is showing up a lot in this cycle.  This is our 2nd round of IVF!  This time we are implanting 2 embryos.  We have always dreamed of having 2 children.  This month marks our 2 year anniversary of “trying” to get pregnant.
And lastly, 1st is the worst, 2nd is the best . . ha.  Those last reasons may sound ridiculous, but right now I will allow it to make sense!
                                                                                                Cheers to Round 2,
